Bill Edgar

Bill Edgar was graduated from Swarthmore College in 1968 with High Honors and is a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He attended the Reformed Presbyterian Theological Seminary and later got a Ph.D. in history from the University of Pennsylvania with the help of a Fulbright grant. From 1970-74, he and his wife Gretchen were missionaries in Cyprus, where their son John was born. Bill taught high school mathematics for thirty years while being pastor of the Broomall RPC 1981-2015; his five children and fifteen grandchildren are active in either the Broomall or Elkins Park congregations. Bill served on various RPCNA committees, including the 1973 Psalter committee and the Synod committee that wrote “The Worship of the Church: A Reformed Theology of Worship” adopted in 2003. He has been President of the RPTS Board of Trustees, the 1998 Moderator of Synod, the main speaker at the 2000 International Conference, chair of the Geneva College Board of Trustees, and Interim President of Geneva College, 2015-16. Bill has published a variety of articles and book chapters. Both volumes of his History of the Reformed Presbyterian Church of North America -- 1871-1920Living By Its Covenant of 1871 and 1920-1980: Decade by Decade -- are available at

John D. Edgar

John Edgar was educated at Swarthmore College, Temple University, Westminster Seminary, and the Reformed Presbyterian Theological Seminary. After teaching high school for several years, he became pastor of the Elkins Park congregation in 2002. He has served the RPCNA as the president of the Home Mission Board, the chair of the Committee to Revise the Directory for Worship, and the president of the White Lake Camp board of directors. He is married with three children. 

Betsy Perkins

Betsy Edgar Perkins was graduated from the Pennsylvania State University in 1996 with Highest Honors and is a member of its Phi Beta Kappa chapter. While completing her major in physics, she tutored for two years at Penn State's Writing Center and managed it for one year. She attended the University of Pennsylvania, where she earned a Masters in Mechanical Engineering with the help of a Presidential Fellowship. After marrying her husband Duran in 1997, she worked for three years as a Research and Development engineer with fiber-optic communications company JDS Uniphase. Her engineering career was cut short by the premature birth of twin daughters, who are now college students. Betsy keeps house for her husband Duran and their five children, manages the finances of the family's entrepreneurial endeavors, and juggles the family schedule.
